Accordion Dreams CD

"Accordion Dreams" is a compilation CD derived from the exciting documentary, Accordion Dreams. The documentary chronicles the history of the accordion as it journeys from central Eurpoe to Texas where it became the nucleus of a unique American music genre - conjunto music. The word "conjunto" literally means "harmony/union" in Spanish and is an appropriate description of the people who love the music.

Latino Public Broadcasting presented the Accordion Dreams documentary on PBS. It is narrated by Texas-based singer/songwriter Tish Hinojosa. The film features exciting performance footage, historical fottage/photos and heartfelt interviews that entertain as well as educate. The documentary looks at today's young accordion aficionados including femail accordionists like Victoria Galvan and Eva Ybarra who have expanded the music beyond its male roots. The special highlights modern musical accordion styles such as rock, blues, pop and rap, while paying homage to the early accordion pioneers.
